Alistair Cooke [Alistair Cooke]
(1908–2004) a US ↑broadcaster and journalist, born in Britain. He was well known for his ↑BBC radio series ↑Letter from America, in which he described US life to the British. The series ran from 1946 until his death. He wrote and presented a very successful television series on American history called Alistair Cooke’s America (1973). He also appeared on US television to talk about British life, and to introduce British plays in the ↑Masterpiece Theater series.
